Explaining the  pictures below:

  1. If you install a shower hose make sure it is one in a plastic tube, like picture 2. Without the plastic, mould  will build up in the groves. The harsh bathroom cleaners will cause the chrome to peel .
  2. Picture 3. Long shower drains collect hairs and scum on the bottom tray, plus the covering grate.
  3. Picture 4. If the tiles go all the way to the ceiling, they are hard to clean. A flat mop run over them weekly will help maintain their gloss but the grout will gradually darken and need a ladder to  gain access, to scrub it back to white.  An easier way is to end the tiles 3/4 way up the wall. Tiles are cold so they hold condensation from the air warmed by the  shower. This causes dust to stick and mould to grow.
  4. Your bathroom is an expensive area to refit. Get it right the first time. A well designed bathroom will appeal to buyers and may help sell your home for a better than expected sum.
  5. When buying a home, put a marble on the floor and make sure it runs to the drain. This way you know the water will travel to the drain instead of pooling in the  wrong place or running to the hallway.
  6. These days buyers want a vanity with double sinks plus power from either side. Yes men can spend as long in front of the mirror as women .
  7. A heated towel rail with at least 6 bars will help dry your towels and reduce mould in the bathroom. So pleasant to get out of a shower to a warm, dry towel.
  8. Picture top left. Coloured grout may seem flash but bathroom cleaning products contain bleach. Yes if left on too long they  will lighten the colour of the grout.
